It’s first night of the second run of Traviatas this season and I’m in my dressing room all made up as the Baron and typing this brief blog. This time round it’s Angela Gheorghiu as Violetta and James Valenti as Alfredo. I have a scratchy moustache for this role which gets stuck on and invariably ends up by

It looks as though it’s been a few days since my last blog, or is it weeks? Time is going by so quickly at the moment, or at least it always seems to do so when I’m busy with lots of different projects.

I’m up in London for the whole of next week which means that I’ve spent the last few days frantically trying to get everything sorted at home, both on the veg patch and in the office so that I can go away and not worry too unduly!! I seem to be fighting a losing battle with the weeds at the moment; particularly bindweed, which I seem to have in abundance and all attempts to erradicate it have

Back from my brief trip to London and managed to avoid any major bank holiday hold-ups on the motorways. I’m having French coaching for Manon at the Royal Opera House, as I seldom sing in French these days. Verdi and Puccini seem to be the backbone of my operatic repertoire at the current time and the last time I sang opera in French was
